On Saturday, August 1, 2026, Fulbright Greater Los Angeles joined the India Interest Group for a meaningful day of service at Hope the Mission in North Hills, near Van Nuys, as part of the Fulbright Association Global Day of Service celebrating the Fulbright Program’s 80th anniversary.
Fulbright alumni, friends, and guests came together to support Hope the Mission’s work addressing food scarcity in the Los Angeles community. Our volunteers rolled up their sleeves to help prepare meals and assemble care packages for community members in need. It was a wonderful opportunity to serve alongside fellow Fulbrighters while putting the Fulbright values of service, leadership, and community engagement into action.
During the visit, participants also had the opportunity to tour the Hope the Mission site and learn more about the organization’s operations and impact. Seeing the scale of the work firsthand was both inspiring and humbling. Through this volunteer effort, our group contributed to supporting more than 3,000 community members experiencing food scarcity in California.
We are grateful to everyone who joined us for this special event and to our partners at Hope the Mission and the India Interest Group for making the day such a success. As Fulbrighters around the world marked this milestone anniversary through service, we were proud to celebrate the enduring Fulbright spirit here in Greater Los Angeles.
That sounds like a really worthwhile effort to support Hope the Mission. It’s great that they’re combining this with the Fulbright program’s milestone.
