Fulbright Greater Los Angeles, in partnership with the DAAD Alumni Association, hosted a Reception for International Exchange Students, Scholars, Alumni, and Friends at the University of California, Santa Barbara. Led by Dr. Manfred Philipp, Fulbright GLAC’s Director of Congressional Relationships, the gathering created a warm and welcoming space for connection and community.

The evening brought together 20 guests who enjoyed good food and even better conversation, sharing stories and reflecting on how international exchange experiences have shaped their personal and professional journeys. One of the highlights was hearing from such a diverse group of scholars and alumni, each offering thoughtful perspectives on the lasting impact of study, research, and cultural immersion abroad.

The event was made possible with generous support from those who assisted with setup and coordination, including Anthropology Professor Casey Walsh, Sociology Professor Sarah Thébaud, and Gail Eisen (formerly a professor at the University of Michigan and a prior member of the Fulbright GLAC Board). The reception served as a meaningful reminder of the enduring connections and shared spirit that make the international exchange community so special.
