Fulbright Greater Los Angeles, in collaboration with the DAAD Alumni Association, hosted a Reception for International Exchange Students, Scholars, Alumni, and Friends at the University of California, Santa Barbara. The event was led by Dr. Manfred Philipp, Fulbright GLAC’s Director of Congressional Relationships, and created a warm and welcoming space for connection and community.
Approximately 20 guests gathered to enjoy good food and meaningful conversation, sharing stories and reflecting on how their international exchange experiences have shaped their personal and professional journeys. One of the highlights of the evening was hearing from such a diverse group of scholars and alumni, each offering thoughtful perspectives on the lasting impact of global study, research, and cultural immersion.
The event was made possible with support from Anthropology Professor Casey Walsh, Sociology Professor Sarah Thébaud, and Gail Eisen, formerly a professor at the University of Michigan and a prior member of the Fulbright GLAC Board. The reception served as a reminder of the enduring connections and shared spirit that make the international exchange community so special.
